Admissions

Admissions

Starting treatment at Ventura Wellness Behavioral Health takes one phone call. Our admissions process for outpatient mental health and addiction care in Thousand Oaks is short and confidential, and it's set up to get you seen quickly. Many people start the same day or the next day.

How Admissions Works

  • A short phone screening. An admissions coordinator asks what's been happening, what you've tried before and what you want to change.
  • A free insurance check. We contact your insurer and explain your benefits, usually the same day. You can also verify your insurance online.
  • A clinical assessment. A clinician meets with you, in person or by video, and recommends a level of care: partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP) or virtual treatment.
  • Your first day. You meet your therapist and case manager, join your first groups and settle on a schedule that works around the rest of your life.

You don't need a substance use diagnosis to get mental health care with us, and you don't need a doctor's referral to call. If you need medical detox before outpatient treatment, we'll help coordinate a referral first, then plan your start with us. Families are welcome to call on behalf of a loved one.

What to Bring on Your First Day

  • A photo ID and your insurance card
  • A list of your current medications and doses, or the bottles themselves
  • Contact details for any current therapist, psychiatrist or primary care doctor you'd like us to coordinate with
  • For virtual clients: a private space and a phone, tablet or computer with a camera

What to Expect in Your First Week

Within your first three days, you and your therapist build an individualized treatment plan, and the team reviews it with you every week. Your first psychiatric appointment takes place within the first week. Your case manager helps with the practical side of treatment, like scheduling and communicating with work or school. Programs run in morning, afternoon and evening tracks, so many clients keep working or studying while they get care.

Paying for Treatment

We're in network with many major insurance plans, and what you pay depends on your plan. If insurance doesn't cover everything, contact us directly to ask about payment options. Call 805-905-5483 any time, day or night, to get started.
