Morning, Afternoon & Evening Programs

Morning, Afternoon & Evening Programs IOP and PHP programs

Treatment works best when you can actually show up for it. At Ventura Wellness Behavioral Health in Thousand Oaks, our outpatient programs run in morning, afternoon and evening tracks, so you can get serious mental health or addiction care without giving up your job, your classes or school pickup. If you have been looking for an evening IOP in Thousand Oaks or a daytime program that leaves your afternoons free, we can usually find a schedule that fits.

Flexible Outpatient Schedules in Thousand Oaks

A lot of people put off care because the only programs they can find meet at nine in the morning on weekdays. That timing rules out anyone with a full-time job, a commute down the 101, or kids at home. We built our schedule the other way around: start with the hours people have, then build the clinical program inside them.

Both of our core levels of care are offered across several time blocks:

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – about six hours of structured programming a day, for people who need a high level of support but don’t need to stay overnight.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) – about three hours a day, several days a week. This is the program most people fit around work or school, and it’s where the evening track is most popular.

Your clinical team will recommend a level of care after your assessment. The time of day is your call, as long as the track you pick has an opening and fits your treatment plan.

Morning, Afternoon or Evening: Which Track Fits You?

Morning track

A good fit if you work afternoon or night shifts, or if you think more clearly early in the day. Many people in PHP choose mornings so the hardest work of the day is done before lunch.

Afternoon track

Useful for parents who want to be home for the morning routine, college students with early classes, and anyone who simply doesn’t do mornings well. It also suits people stepping down from PHP who want to keep a similar rhythm.

Evening track

Our evening IOP is designed for people who work standard daytime hours. You finish your workday, come in (or log in), and get the same group therapy, skills work and clinical support that daytime clients get. Evenings can also be the hardest time of day for cravings or low mood, so having treatment scheduled then gives that time a structure.

In Person, Online or Both

You can attend at our Thousand Oaks office, join through online therapy (virtual IOP and PHP) from anywhere in California, or mix the two. Hybrid works well when your week is unpredictable: come in on days you can, log in on days you can’t. Clients from Westlake Village, Newbury Park and Simi Valley often attend in person, while people farther away use the virtual program.

What Treatment Looks Like in Every Track

An evening session is not a lighter version of a morning one. Every track includes the same core pieces:

We treat depression, anxiety, trauma, dual diagnosis and substance use, including alcohol addiction. You don’t need a substance use diagnosis to join a mental health track.

Changing Your Schedule as Life Changes

Your schedule at intake won’t necessarily be your schedule a month later. People go back to work, change shifts or finish a semester. When that happens, tell your case manager. We’ll look at moving you to another track, switching to hybrid, or stepping you from PHP down to IOP if you’re ready clinically. The aim is to keep you in treatment rather than lose you to a calendar conflict.

We’re in network with many major plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Shield of California, Kaiser and UnitedHealthcare/Optum. Coverage depends on your plan, so the quickest way to know is a free insurance check.

Flexible Schedule FAQs

Do you offer an evening IOP in Thousand Oaks?

Yes. Our intensive outpatient program has an evening track for people who work or study during the day. It runs about three hours a session, several days a week, and includes group therapy, individual therapy and psychiatric support. You can attend in person in Thousand Oaks or join online from anywhere in California.

Can I keep working while I’m in treatment?

Most people in our IOP keep working, and some PHP clients do too with a reduced schedule. Your team will help you choose a track that fits your hours. If your job requires paperwork or a leave of absence, your case manager can help you with the forms and with what to tell your employer.

Is the evening program the same as the daytime program?

Clinically, yes. Evening clients get the same therapists, the same evidence-based approaches, weekly treatment plan reviews and access to the psychiatric team. The only thing that changes is the time of day. Group size and topics may vary from track to track, but the standard of care does not.

Can I switch tracks after I start?

Usually, yes. If your work hours change or a different time suits you better, talk to your case manager. We’ll move you to another track when there’s space and it fits your treatment plan. You can also switch between in-person, online and hybrid attendance.
